Summer can begin now....no more mornings of dressing kids, grabbing breakfast, making lunches and finding socks and shoes before 7:45....no more helper days, fundraisers, book orders and field trips.....no more carpools, phone calls from the teachers, endless worksheets and art projects. The days of casual mornings, working in the garden, swimming lessons, trips to the park and lazy summer evenings on the deck are here! We are working on a summer schedule which will still include a bed time (sorry kids but Mommy and Daddy need some alone time too!), chores, TV time, reading time and fun time. It will be a huge change having the boys home, but as long as we keep busy it's pretty fun.
And now for a few pregnancy confessions. My brain is not working properly! I am so forgetful. I forgot to pay our house payment and I have NEVER missed it in nearly nine years. I also locked my keys in the van the other day after Preston's dr. appt. I forget what I'm doing in a room, and I even get my dreams mixed up with what really has happened. It is crazy wierd! And things seem to look one way in my head but when they happen it's so different. I was dreaming of grass for our front yard this summer, and found a new kind that needs water once a month and very little care. It didn't sound too hard to plant either-just plant the "plugs" in a hole in the dirt like a checkerboard in your yard. Easy!!! That's what I thought until the grass plugs arrived (all 600 of them!) and we attempted to plant them. The dirt is too hard, so we had to make a muddy bog in the yard, and the tool they sent us to make the holes doesn't work too well, so I just used a spade. I worked two hours this morning and haven't even finished one side of our front yard yet! And these plugs have to be planted right away or they will rot and die. I feel so bad that this is how we will be spending our "holiday" weekend. The worst thing is what if I put my family through all this work and they don't grow? Is it ok to pray that your grass plugs grow? Wish me luck, and remind me (because I will surely forget) not to picture something in my pregnancy brain because it most likely won't turn out the way I think!!! Beth
