Happy New Year!

I love the new year! It’s just something about a fresh start that appeals to me. Like I have another chance to improve and change and grow and learn. It just gets me very excited and motivated. It’s all in my head I’m sure, but it sure is nice to feel this way! I have a few resolutions that stay the same each year. Main ones are monthly temple attendance, 100% visit teaching and starting an exercise program. I got ahead of myself and started exercising before the holidays just to help me stay focused and have more energy. I slacked a little the week of Christmas but now with the new year I will just start again! Kirk and I have set some major financial goals as well. I have often let money just slip through my hands and wonder where it went, but no more! I read a wonderful book by Dave Ramsey (a gift from Kirks parents) and everything seemed so clear to me. So each month we are on a very strict budget and each dollar will be accounted for. It’s been pretty hard for me (and we are only on the first month!) It was just so easy to whip out my credit card when the money ran out. Now when the money is gone, it’s gone! I’m sure it will get easier as time goes on. The motto of the book is “If you live like no one else, later you can live like no one else” Basically, being debt free now and investing will allow us to have what we need when we are ready to retire. We are on our way to financial freedom-no payments (not even a house payment) at least by 2018, but I’m positive it will be sooner. I also have goals about organizing (this is a goal every year!) I have come a long way with our home, but there’s still a way to go. It’s so nice to have goals to work towards.
The next few months will be pretty busy with church, preschool fundraisers and helping at GCCS. They moved into their new location and it actually feels like a school now. They were in a church and it was so hard for the teachers because they had to take down everything at the end of the day. A lot of things were left in storage. Now they have all their supplies out and lots of furniture and cubbies for coats. It’s just so nice to have and the boys couldn’t be happier! It is such a great school and it just keeps getting better. That’s all for now, gotta get to work!!!

Isn't Dave Ramsey great? Mike loves his radio program and we've also adopted a lot of his principles into our financial stuff too. It does get easier, I promise! :)
