Thirties here I come

I watched an Oprah recently and she had spotlighted women in thier thirties. They were all living very different lives. There were mothers, single women, career women, women who wanted children but couldn't and so on. One woman who inspired me wrote her own obituary when she turned thirty so she could look back and see all the good things she had accomplished. Then she pretended she was seventy years old and wrote another one from that perspective. She said this made her realize what she has yet to accomplish, and it made her want another child (she had one). I have been stressing about the big three-oh and this show made me WANT to be part of those great women in their thirties. I don't turn 30 until March, but the dread is starting to turn into excitement. It marks a new part of my life and makes me want to do all the things I have been putting off. I am also going to write my obituary. I think it will be fun to look back and it will force me to see all the good things I've done and been. Maybe I will finally feel like a grown-up, because sometimes I have so much goofy fun with my boys and friends, I think I'm still a teenager.

I meant to watch that show and I forgot!
You know I just turned 30. I wasn't dreading it really. The only thing I was thinking was that it really sounded grown-up and I would have to actually be a grown-up then. Nah! Int he 2 months I've been in my 30's, it hasn't had much effect on me. Actually, I think it's had more of an effect on my mom who can't believe she's old enough to have a 30-year-old! :)
