Our wonderful weekend!

This past weekend was full of excitement for our family! Kirk was called to be the first counselor in the bishopric! This meant he needed to be ordained a High Priest. He really wanted his Dad to do it, so they sacrificed a lot and came out from Michigan to be here. I'm sure it wore them out coming on a Friday to Salt Lake, flying to Twin Falls on Saturday, driving to Boise and then driving back to Twin Falls Saturday night and flying back to Michigan on Sunday. It meant a lot for them to come though! Saturday afternoon Kirk was ordained a High Priest and on Sunday he was set apart as the first counselor. His Grandparents, my parents and my Grandpa and his parents were there. Kirk and I had a really good discussion about the two blessings and what stood out to us. Heavenly Father knows our needs as a family and every concern we had or worry we felt was addressed in those two blessings! We feel so very blessed in our lives right now! I know the Lord has been preparing us for this calling and this is the right time for Kirk to serve in the bishopric. He has been the Executive Secretary for about three years, and he goes to the meetings on Sunday mornings and goes to the church at least two nights a week, so we are pretty used to the time it takes to fill this calling. I am a little worried about sitting alone with all the kids, but I have had some great inspiration in that area as well and made the boys a church folder with lots of activities to do and things to read (I'll post more about these Sunday books later) I am excited for this new chapter to begin for our family and even more excited to see Kirk grow in confidence as he serves the ward. We love this ward, we've seen many changes in the ten years we've been here, but we have never been without friends. Many people move in and out in a short time, but we enjoy getting to know everyone! I give all my support to Kirk and am so happy for him! Beth

On Saturday after the ordination we went to Red Robin and had a really good time. You may notice the missionaries in the picture, I had signed up to have them over for dinner about a month ago, so we just invited them along instead of canceling it. It was really fun having them with us!

I have little idea what this means but I can tell it's very important to you and your family. How great that Kirk's parents could come! I bet the boys loved having both sets of grandparents in one place! When was the last time that happened? :)

Best of wishes in this new chapter of your lives, it really does bring wonderful blessings.

You are never really alone with the kids in this ward. :) So many people have stepped in to help me. Kirk will just have to perfect the look of death from the stand.... why do you think we started sitting at the front?! I can't wait to see you quiet books!

Happy serving in the new calling. This calling much involves the wife as much as the husband because of your support. By the way who was called as the other counselor and Exec. sec?

Congrats! That is awesome, we are so happy for you guys. Tell Kirk I know he will do such an amazing job. He was my home teacher right before I moved. I appreciated everything he did for me and my family. You are so licky Beth!
