Ok, I cried....

I know all month long I have been excited for the boys to go back to school, but yes, my heart was aching when I left them in their new classrooms at their new school in their new uniforms. This is how excited they were before school-NOT!!!! (they are suposed to be holding up the number of fingers for the grade they are in)

It was one of those hard mommy moments when I realized I can't take away the fear and the unknown and my boys had to experiance this alone. I couldn't make friends for them, I couldn't be next to them on the playground with all the new faces. I couldn't even eat lunch with them (even though I was ready to go over to the school by then!) It was so hard leaving them (especially Preston and Kolby who had eyes full of tears). I felt my own tears coming as I walked to the van. All day I tried to keep busy and the hours just dragged by!!! When it was finally time to pick them up, I was greeted with smiles and excitement and stories about school. I breathed huge sigh of relief that they had made it through this and are stronger for the experience.

We celebrated the new school year with a feast! This is going to be a new tradition for us. I made fried chicken and scalloped potatoes. We drank root beer and ate fresh cucumbers and watermelon. We even set the table with the "good" dishes and glasses! It was so much fun! Preston said it felt like a birthday.

We ended the evening after family night with chocolate fondue.

It was a memorable day, and I'm glad it's over! Beth
