My awesome gift

Valentine's Day was quite the busy day.  I spent all day giving to others, which is fine, I love to do that.  But like most holidays in our home, I didn't receive any gifts.  It would have been nice, but it isn't the end of the world!  I would much rather give than receive (wait until you see what I have planned for my birthday!)  Anyway, yesterday after school I asked the boys why Kolby wasn't on the bus.  I knew he had his last game on Tuesday after school, so he didn't have basketball practice.  They just told me he wanted to walk home.

Imagine my surprise when he walked in with this!!!!!!!!!

For a few weeks now, every time I'd drive by the boys school I would see this sled in the front of a little second hand/antique store.  And every time I saw it I would say "I love that sled!  Isn't it so cute?  I wish I could get it!"  We even stopped one time and looked at it to see how much it costs.  It was $29.95.  Not a bad price, but I just couldn't justify spending it.  So every day I'd check to see if that little sled was still there.  I don't even know why I liked it so much, I just did!!

So, after school Kolby bought the sled (with his precious mile money) and carried it all the way home on his head to give to me for Valentine's Day.  He wanted to do it on Valentine's Day, but like I said, he had a basketball game and couldn't.  I just looked at him in shock when he walked in the door.  He really sacrificed for this.  That is A LOT of money to an 11 year old.  It made my whole week.  I will never forget what he did for me and the great love it showed me as well.  I have awesome kids.  Beth
