I just had a HUGE insight into feeling old. It isn't you own age that makes you feel old, it's your children's age that does! I am not kidding, my oldest son is turning..gulp..12 today, and it is official, I am old. He will always be that sweet, mischievous freckle faced boy in my heart, but he is growing up. Too quickly for me, not quick enough for him!!
Logan was born at 6:41 am, 7 lbs 4 oz. 21 inches long. It was a really LONG night (first babies are hard!), but so worth it in the end!! We were such proud parents. He was the first grandchild on both sides and had a lot of loving people welcome him to the world!! He'll die that I said this, but we called him "Bunkie". He came as a HUGE surprise as we were expecting a girl. (darn ultrasounds!!) I can still feel the shock after his birth. I kept yelling, "IT'S A BOY!!!" The doctors thought I was crazy or something! Then they saw the cute pink shoes I had with me in the delivery room as my "focus" item and they understood! I had 4 baby showers for my "girl" so I wasn't ready at all for a boy!!!
We were really spoiled with boy things though, good thing he was the first grandchild/nephew!!
This is probably my all time favorite picture of Logan. Taken just before his first birthday.
Logan was a crazy boy! Trying to escape all the time into the yard or street, climbing as high as he could (he made it to the fridge once!) getting into everything (poison control was on my speed-dial!), making huge messes with whatever he could find. He kept me on my toes all day long! Many frantic calls were made to neighbors those first few years. All the other kids were angels compared to him....but he did finally manage to listen and obey, and now he is just a wonderful example!
Logan is the perfect older brother, so responsible, really fun to be with, an awesome example to all four of his siblings.
Logan loves the outdoors! When he was younger, he'd rather be outside than anywhere else. I realize now what a blessing it was to have a yard for him to play in. The cool thing is we were in the process of closing on our home when we found out we were pregnant. It's a good thing, I don't think we would have made it if we didn't!
Happy birthday Logan, you've made our family a fun and exciting place to be!! We are so excited for you to hold the priesthood and are sure that Heavenly Father is so proud of you too. We love your jokes and your energy. You have been so blessed with many talents. We love to hear you sing! Thank you for trying so hard in school and setting such high goals for your life. You are wonderful! We love you more each day. Beth
