Second's not so bad....

Well, I didn't win the "sing for your ring" contest. I was ahead all day and then BAM sometime between 10:00pm and 12:00pm I lost out. It's ok though, it was fun to sing on the radio. I am a bit sad it wasn't my BEST singing (I sounded like a kid!) But I think I will try again, and if I'm lucky I will get through. Thanks to everyone who voted!

It felt somewhat like a popularity contest and I was once again a junior in high school.

When I was a junior I ran for Senior class vice president. I wanted it so bad. I had these really cool signs made that looked like stop signs that said "Stop, vote Go" (My last name was Golightly) I was already the junior class secretary, so I had plenty of experience. I was a good canidate for the job. BUT the boy who decided to run against me did it just for fun. He was a funny kid and more popular than me. He made silly signs that said "I paid nothing for this sign" (I didn't pay anything for my signs either, they were donated by a local business) But in the end, it was a popularity contest and he won by less than 15 votes. (told me in confidence by our student council advisor) I was so crushed. The senior officers were in charge of the 10 year reunion, and was our vice president anywhere around? NO! Our president is the only one left of our officers that is even responsible. It was such a joke.

Not winning the ring wasn't as bad as that election, but it did seem like a popularity contest all over again!

Second place isn't a bad place to be though, and Kirk did like his song, even though it embarassed him a little! Beth

I know! What was THAT about??? All of a sudden the votes totally changed... that was really weird. At any rate, good job! :)

It was rigged...you were ahead the whole day. I shoudl've got on my other computer voted again. And it's good for Kirk to be embarrassed every once in a while.
