12 years ago today I married a man for time and all eternity. I gave my heart, life and love to him. I had faith that he was all I had prayed for, yet I didn't even know him that well or what he was truly capable of. How could I have known how hard he would work for our family? How he would work two jobs to keep me home with the children or work overtime everyday to provide for our needs. How could I have known the respect he would have for me as his wife and the Mother of the home. The support he would give me in each choice I made for our children. How was I to know he would hold me all night through the heartache of losing our first baby? How he would let me cry as much as I wanted to and stand by my side through the difficult times. How was I to know of the faithfulness he would give me? The peace of mind that he really was where he said he was. How he would avoid all temptations at any cost. How he always makes me feel treasured and beautiful. How could I have known the sacrifice he would make to live here in Idaho when he loves his roots in Michigan. How could I have known the rock he would be by my side as I gave birth to each child. How he would endure all of the emotions that I experienced through each pregnancy and new baby. How could I know how peaceful I would feel as he blessed each of our babies as a worthy priesthood holder. How could I have known about the lessons he would teach me about service. About helping people who have no where to turn and no one to ask. He serves and gives so willingly and never expects anything in return. How he remembers little things people mention-like a favorite flower or treat, and surprises them when they least expect it. How was I to know the things he would patiently teach me about finances and thrift. I was so young and had a lot to learn..but he helped me and we made it work. How was I to know he would be so supportive of my many many hobbies and talents? He never complains as I jump from sewing to cooking to scrapbooking to piano to running...he just supports and encourages me. How could I have known that he would eat ALL of my cooking, no matter what, especially in the early years!! How was I to know what a great servant of the Lord he would be. How he never misses a meeting and is so dependable. How he has taught the boys about working hard and about living your testimony. How could I have seen his tenderheart as he looked at and held our daughter for the first time? How could I have known how wonderful a husband he would turn out to be? His humor and smile still give me butterflies! He is my provider, my protector, my love, my Kirkie.....12 years ago I married him, how was I to know how blessed I would be after all this time. I am so thankful for him and am lucky to have a best friend like him. Beth
