December and Christmas!!

I thought I'd do a Christmas post, but I didn't blog most of December so I'll just lump it all in one!

This month all my kids had eye doctor appointments.  Dallin and Logan are close to needing glasses, but we'll see in a year how they are.  I think Dallin will need them for sure, but every time we take Logan in they say that...so we'll see!

We also had a lot of days filled with wrestling matches and tournaments!  Kolby ended the season on a HUGE high!!!  The entire season he had only won two matches...so when the city tournament came around I didn't have high hopes.  I feel bad, but I didn't even want to go!!!  I showed up at 5:30 (he'd been there since 11:00) and he was doing really good!  Basically if you keep winning, you keep wrestling and if you lose twice you are out.  He had won two and lost one, so he was still in.  And.....HE.  KEPT. ON. WINNING!!!  One after another after another.  He was bruised and sooo tired and his head was hurting really bad but he never gave up!  He wrestled like I've never seen him wrestle before!  Kids were bleeding, crying and hurting.  (He wasn't mean, but very aggressive!)  I was shocked.  I kept calling home to give Kirk updates and every time I just said, "Kolby is on FIRE!!"  It finally came down to him wrestling for third or fourth place.  It was a great match and he held on to the end and lost by only two points.  They were so evenly matched.  If there was more time I'm sure Kolby would have come out on top, but the rounds were only 1 1/2 minutes.  It didn't matter though because even with fourth he was sooooo proud of himself.  He told me his goal was to place and win a medal and he DID!!!  I feel like an awful mom because I didn't even bring my camera (that's how little hope I had) but I managed to snap this picture when we got home (around 9:30!!)  It was a long day, but very very memorable!!  (It was also the night we had that big snowstorm so we came out to a van covered in snow and ice! )  I learned an important lesson too-NEVER doubt your child's ability to accomplish anything they put their minds to.  Always believe in them.  Always.
(AND bring your camera NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!!)

I'm sure I will have more wrestling stories about Logan soon-his matches go into February so he's got a while to go!

I was hoping to stay really busy this month with tons of orders but it wasn't like that at all!  It was s.....l....o....w.  It was hard for me too!  I was all psyched up to do tons of baking and I bought lots of ingredients, but not many orders came in.  It was kind of nice not to feel that pressure.  I enjoyed all of the holiday preparations and didn't get stressed out too much.  I was hoping for the extra $ for Christmas, but we managed to get the kids some fun presents.  I had ordered a bunch of stuff online and it didn't come until 7:00 Christmas Eve!  I was lucky it came!  Christmas Eve dinner was yummy!  We had ham, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, broccoli salad and pumpkin pie for dessert.  I also made a cheese ball, vegetable dip and lots of snacks.  We did a puzzle on Christmas day and spent the morning unwrapping gifts.  One note about Tayla's bike.  We weren't planning on getting her a bike even though her old one kept on making her crash when the chain came off.  We just couldn't afford it.  Well, I was driving on Orchard on Christmas Eve and there was this guy with a truck full of toys holding a HUGE sign that said "FREE"  I pulled over and there was the perfect size bike for Tayla.  I thanked him and he said he just wanted to give toys to kids that needed them.  I know this bike was meant for her.  It was awesome for her to see on Christmas morning!!!  Anyway, here's some pictures of our celebration.  I'll probably see you next year!!!  Beth
