Three more days, and post 500!!!

I had to tell you that this will be my 500th post on this blog!  That sounds pretty crazy, but then again I've been doing this blog since the end of 2006.

Three more days and August will be DONE!!!!  I'm so glad.  This month is really killing me.  It's been fun and busy and stressful and just plain overwhelming.  Tonight and tomorrow are our big parent meetings for the pre-school.  I have to speak and be in charge.  It makes me a little nervous to have to be in front of all those parents, but I'm kind of just pretending it's like any other church meeting that I'm used to.  I also figure most of the parents are going to be a little nervous too, so I will just be really nice and welcoming and smile.  I am going to welcome all the parents as they walk in too.  Wish me luck!!

The end of our summer was really fun.  I realized all the things we didn't do and tried to cram it into a week.  We did pretty good!

Some of our fun summer memories include:

Kuna Caves!!  It was a really big deal for me to climb down that ladder with my fear of heights.  I was shaking by the time I got to the bottom, but I did it!!  We explored the caves (they were about 61 degrees inside)  And afterwards we got pizzas in Kuna.  We were sooooo dirty after this.  There's a lot of really fine dust in the cave.

Trip to Idaho City!  We decided to get out of the city and drive about 45 minutes to Idaho City.  We had fun shopping and walking around and eating really good ice cream.  Seriously, at Sarsparilla ice cream parlor they had fresh Huckleberry ice cream on freshly made waffle cones.  And the small was HUGE.  It wasn't too smokey either.  Boise was worse.

Swimming a lot at Eagle Island.  We went to Sandy Point Beach once, but then I took the kids to Eagle Island and they loved it so much!  We went quite a few times.  I love that it's only $5.00 per car!  There is plenty of shade so I would bring a book and relax while the kids played.

We went boating with some friends and the kids had a BLAST!!!  I really want a boat now.  We had dinner on it, went tubing and swimming.  We didn't have time for fishing though.  Even Kirk loved it.

We went to a ton of parks this summer.  This is at the train depot with our cousins.

I just had to show this.  Tayla "painting" outside with a mixture of cornstarch, water and coloring.  It kept her busy a really long time and it looks so neat when it dries.

One of our last adventures was the fair with my Dad.  It was really fun and we think this is going to be a new tradition.  We entered tons of stuff this year too.  I entered caramels, divinity, fudge, sugared nuts, a candy box, scrapbook pages and a card.  I won first for the divinity and nuts, third for the fudge and fourth for the scrapbook pages.  Tayla entered beans, tomatoes, zucchini, two pictures and a button collage.  She placed first on the beans, second on her duck picture, third on the zucchini and fourth on the collage.  Dallin entered two of his artworks from his art class and got first on his knight and fourth on his ship.

We also had fun petting and looking at the animals and butterflies.

I'd say we had a great summer.  Now it's back to school and homework and football.  I am hoping to really organize and clean out the house, but we'll see!!  Beth
