One of our all time favorite Family Home Evening activities is going to the Boise Depot!!
Starting in May they open it up to the public to tour!
They have a lot of really cool things to look at and history of the depot.
You can go upstairs and look around.
Sit on the cool benches
Explore all the cool architecture.
But or favorite part is taking the long ride up to the top to see the bell tower!!! (there are tour guides who have to take you up, but they are really nice and let you stay as long as you'd like!) There are four windows and bells so you can look over all of Boise and see so much! It was really windy up there! Our guide told the boys all about the bells and the history of them. One of them still rings every day at 12 and 5 (I think).
If you haven't done this yet, you are missing out! And I don't think they publicize it too much because we had the entire place to ourselves the whole time we were there!!!
The gardens are closed right now and the ponds are empty for maintenance, so you may want to wait until you can walk around there too. (We visit them so often it wasn't a big deal for us.) This really is the perfect (FREE!) family activity!!! Beth

We used to go there all the time and watch the fish and sunset on the rocks. I remember the bells clearly ringing every day. We always talked about going through for a tour but never ended up doing it.
Thanks for the tip, Beth! It's on my to-do list.
Very cool! We should totally get over there sometime - I bet it'd be a PERFECT "out and about" activity!!! :) Thanks! :)
