My Job Chart

 
My kids have ALWAYS had some sort of job chart.  It's different for the school year than the summertime.  Right now they have a daily job (these are for example helping with dinner, setting the table, sweeping etc.) and they have a Saturday job that's larger like cleaning the bathroom or vacuuming the basement.  We've never really done allowances, but liked to pay the boys a few dollars here and there for extra jobs.  So, I saw this idea on someone's blog, and thought "why not!"  When I started My Job Chart I really didn't have high expectations.  I thought the boys would forget to log in and wouldn't really understand the "point" system.  Boy was I wrong!!!  We are going on two weeks now, and it is AWESOME!!!  It is really personalized for each child.  I've put things on there like reading for 30 minutes, no more than 2 warnings at church and giving me lots of hugs and kisses :)  They have gone above and beyond.  The cool thing is I can pick items from Amazon for them to earn as well.  They still have the option to earn money, but they can also earn dates with Kirk and I, movie tickets, trips to the park or discovery center and ice-cream.  They each have different goals.  On the chart I added saying prayers, morning and night, and the boys are doing it!  On Saturday I added reading the Book of Mormon.  They get points for reading each day, and also if they read the entire book they get 5,000 points (which is equal to $50.00!!)  This morning I woke up and my boys were sitting at the table reading the scriptures.  I can't tell you what that did to my heart.  I know they are doing it for a "prize" but I know the benefits they will get from doing it are worth far more.  They also LOVE logging on and filling out the chart of things they did.  They are working so hard.  I highly recommend My Job Chart.  It's been amazing for my family.  Beth
