But he wouldn't do it.
He sent me to a specialist. (an Endodontic) I can handle it I thought to myself. What's a few more hours of pain? The specialist would for sure be able to ease my pain.
But I was wrong again.
After eight shots to try and numb my tooth and three hours of drilling I could still feel pain.
Only worse.
He gave me the strongest drugs he could. He warned me of the pain I would have as I regained feeling in my face.
It scared me.
I thought I was past the worst of it. But it had only just begun.
I have not been able to chew, or even open my mouth much since. I hope I can stop taking these pills soon, but it really is unbearable when they wear off. It made me think about life, and how we have to experience painful things to appreciate the peaceful. How the pain may have to be worse for us to get better. How there really isn't a quick fix for painful things. You can mask it for a while, but eventually you have to get to the root of the problem, even if it means more pain and suffering. I know eventually it will be worth it.
In this life, all the physical, emotional and spiritual pain will be worth it. Beth

Oh sweet Beth...I hope the pain gets better in all aspects!! You make childbirth pain sound like a piece of cake. At least with childbirth you get something out of it.

You poor dear. Did they ever find out what was really wrong??
thanks you guys! They did find out what was wrong-my previous root canal didn't go all the way to the end of the root and that tiny little part was infected. That's why they had to do the root canal again. I think I had the first one done like 2 years ago, so it was a bit of a surprise that this happened!
