I know, I'm so late. My New Year hasn't been so fun thus far, so I thought I'd start over again. I love fresh starts. Any start. Like a new year, week, month, day, hour....you get the picture! It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes, "no one got where they are without starting where they were." No better place for me to start than right here. I am almost pain free, and I am only a little swollen! And after a week not feeling up to doing much, even the laundry, dishes and messy rooms don't seem so daunting! I wanted to share a few pictures from our week in Utah. It was so freezing, but worth it.
The main reason we came was to see this little guy get baptized. My brother's oldest son, Steven. It was a wonderful way to spend New Years Day!!
We were lucky enough to get a picture of all 14 grand kids as well!

One of the days Anna, my Dad and I went into Salt Lake to the family history center. I. Was. In. Heaven. We only had a few hours, and I was able to find a lot of missing information. I can't wait to go back and search through all of the Norwegian farm books. There's so much information there. Amazing!!!
We all decided to take the train into Salt Lake. We bundled up and had quite the adventure! There were 14 kids and 6 adults. Pretty good ratio, but it was still crazy. I kept losing the little ones. And I can't say it enough...IT WAS FREEZING!!!
Seeing this was really cool. It's a model with all the details of inside the Salt Lake Temple. Even pictures on the walls. The kids loved looking at it. If you haven't seen this yet, go. It is so cool. I had no idea there was a huge assembly hall at the top. My Dad told me that is where they met before he left on his mission!
I love how it is set up too, the temple is right outside the window.
I think this trip was one of my favorites because we took time to see the spiritual side of Salt Lake. We've done all the fun things like Lagoon, museums and parks, but this is the side I really needed to feel.
The lights were amazing too. I am sad to admit I haven't seen the lights before. We just never go to Utah in the winter. I loved them. I loved walking around and just enjoying them. I'm so glad we were able to do so much while we were there! Here's to the new year!!! Beth

I live in Utah and I think you've done more here than we have. We opted out of seeing the lights this year because we thought Mason would turn into a popsicle. Glad you got to see your family.
Our favorite thing to do while in Utah with a little free time is visiting temple square. I think we have photos from just about every time we've been there.
