What a crazy weekend this has been! On Saturday I was in the 5K walk for women and had so much fun. I walked without kids and took my best friend Rebecca. We talked the whole time and I think I'm in better shape than I thought. I didn't feel exhausted and we passed a lot of people. After walking through the park at the finish line, we even decided to walk home! Kirk had a major yard cleaning project going on and even though I needed to shop and clean for his birthday barbeque the next day, I decided to help because it's rare when we both have enough energy for the yard. It looks much better, but we still have a ways to go. Our trash pile tomorrow will be huge though for garbage day. Kirk got a call around 2:00 to come help a couple in our ward paint their house. I told him he had unil 5:30 sharp because that was when I was planning to leave for the General Relief Society broadcast. After he left I rounded up the Boys to go to Home Depot and get his present. I was hoping I wouldn't have to bring all four of them but I didn't know when else I could do it! I was after a router table, and completely clueless, but a nice worker helped me. Dallin had a meltdown in the cart (he wants to walk) but a lady was handing out suckers AND balloons, so that helped buy me some time. I had the boys pick out a small tool for Kirk and we got through that ok. I was planning on stopping at Fred Meyer and getting the food for the party, but the boys were way too grumpy. Logan and Kolby went to a friends house around 4:30 and I was off to the meeting by 5:30. They have these meetings once a year and I really look forward to them. They are so uplifting and it also is a girls night out for me. I went with my friends Hollie and Debbie. The meeting starts and they didn't even get to the opening song when I feel a hand on my shoulder, I turn and it's Kirk! My heart sank and I knew it had to be bad because he would never walk into a full room of women! He told me Preston jumped off the deck and broke his arm. His arm looked deformed, and Preston was scared that he was going to get cut open. Kirk had allready made arrangements for the other boys at the neighbors, so we took Preston to the hospital from there. Preston was so brave through all the x-rays, needles and check-ups. He broke both the ulna and the radius near his wrist. They had to put him under to reset the bones but it was only for about 10 minutes. He now has a bright green temporary splint and a sling. On the 3rd he gets a hard cast. It's funny because all day I was stressed about birthday party items like getting the house clean and getting the food and presents. None of it mattered now. Preston breaking his arm put everything in perspective and He was all that mattered at the moment. I didn't think of any of it while I was there in the hospital blowing him bubbles, reading him books, singing frosty the snowman (his favorite song), and holding him while he slept. I don't like it when bad things happen to my boys. I hate to see them in pain or sad. But it reminds me how deep my love is for them and I would do anything for them in their time of need. We were there for three hours and got home around 10:00. Preston slept pretty well as long as I gave him pain medication every 4 hours. He even went to church for an hour Sunday. I still managed to pull off the birthday party for Kirk that night at 5:00. We five other families, so there were 12 adults, and 14 children. It was so fun! We had a gourmet hamburger bar which included morell mushrooms straight from Michigan, bleu cheese, sauted onions and peppers, swiss and pepperjack cheese and lettuce. Everyone brought side dishes and desserts so we had tons of food! I haven't seen Kirk so happy in a while. He loved his presents, but I think it meant a lot to have all of our close friends there. Kirk is now 34 and looks maybe 25. It's not fair! Anyway, today is my Monday catch up day and we are just relaxing. At least until the boys get home in about 30 minutes!
