It’s been a busy week and I haven’t written about the fire yet. The end of my seventh grade year our middle school burnt down. Watching the Middleton fire brought it all back. I lived about 5 blocks from the school and Sunday morning someone called me and told me the school was on fire. I didn’t believe them, but my Mom drove us there just to check. Sure enough it was. I just sat there and watched. It was such a disappointing time for this to happen. The last week of school was always the best! We had a big choir concert that week (it was canceled) yearbooks were handed out (they were burned!) and you said your good-byes to all your friends. Suddenly school was out for the summer and I never felt real closure. The yearbooks were re-printed and I remember having a signing at the park, but not everyone was there and it just wasn’t the same. I felt like the students were just left there to figure things out on their own. I’m so glad in Middleton they are getting the support they need and the entire community is helping them. The next year we spent in portables and adjusted to having no lockers and heavy book bags. It sucked without our school, but we managed. Not something I would want anyone to go through. I do have a brick from the school and my picture was on the front page of the paper the next day. We were so jealous because the new school was huge and all new, but we didn’t get to attend it. I really feel for those students, I think it would be worse to have your High School burn. Beth

Wow! I don't know why but I couldn't find any pictures. Thanks for posting these. It brings back so many memories. I truly feel for all those Middleton High students right now.
I'm so glad you wrote about this and had pictures to share! It is weird seeing the whole thing play out in Middleton. It seems so familiar.
