Vacation part 1-Fishing!

We've been home from our vacation for 5 days now, and I think I'm almost caught up!  Coming home and unpacking and getting back to normal life is the worst in my opinion!!  I think we had a good trip though and made lots of memories!  Whenever I go on vacation I just unplug and relax.  It's really nice to go a week or so without the computer and all the distractions it can bring.  I took over 200 pictures on our trip!!!  I am going to break it up in several posts because I want to be sure to remember all the fun we had!!  Today I think it will be one of my favorite parts: fishing!

I have many fond memories of fishing with my dad, and fishing with my kids gave me a whole new appreciation for him!!  It takes a lot of patience, but my boys all caught on quickly how to cast and how to watch for rocks and branches so they didn't get snags.

Everyone caught a fish except Logan (who didn't go fishing after that first time, I don't think he liked it too much)  We went 4 or 5 times over the week.

Preston LOVES to fish and caught one right away on our first trip.  He even let me take a picture, which is rare.  He caught several more after that.  He told me fishing is his talent, sweet huh?  That's Kirk's brother, Ryan in the background.  He made this all possible and brought all the poles and gear and patience that we needed to fish with the five kids.

Here's a view of the mountains from where we fished.  It was amazing!!!

Kirk "helped" Dallin catch this one!  I also caught three fish "helping" Dallin.  He was getting frustrated with this one spot on the river so I took his pole and in my calm mommy voice said, "you just throw it in right here and you let it go down a little and then you catch a fish"  It was perfect timing, because as I was saying it I did catch a fish!  It was so funny!!  Kirk was standing there and couldn't believe it either.  I love the feeling of catching a fish!  It is such a thrill.  I wish I had a picture of my fish, it was the biggest one :)

I LOVE this picture of Tayla and Kirk.  She loved fishing with Daddy.

We had a lot of fun and I hope we continue fishing as a family.  We've gone a few times over the years, but it was always stressful being near water with such little kids.  I think they are all grown up enough to try it again!!  Stay tuned for the next post: Bryce Canyon.

Kirk looks right at home with a fishing pole, water and no houses in sight.
