Look who's cooking now!!

I could hardly wait to finish this kitchen!!! Saturday we cut out all the pieces. This was a big job. We used a very thick cardboard for the sides and the back and Kirk had to use a power saw to cut them out! I did the smaller pieces with two ply cardboard, but looking back I wish we would have used the thick cardboard for everything. It took a lot of time to get the measurements just right. Sunday I taped the edges of the cardboard pieces with strong tape so you couldn't see all the edges from the cardboard. Monday I painted them with colors left from when we did her room. The oven door is the same green as the trim around the room. I also sewed the curtain (made with scraps from her crib set) and took care of some little details. Today I put it together with a few modifications to the top shelf. I hung the curtain, added the sink, faucet (a letter "L" upside down painted silver), and used self stick felt for the burners. It is FAR from perfect. That is why you aren't getting any close-up pictures! It drives me crazy in a few places, and the oven door keeps bending, but Tayla loves it and is having fun cooking! I hope it lasts a little bit at least. It was fun making it. It looks so so cute in her room!! Beth
