Such excitement in our home today! Little Tayla has her first two teeth! I could feel something this afternoon and sure enough two teeth had pushed their way out. I sort of thought she was getting them because she's been drooling a lot and chewing on everything she can get her hands on, but babies do that anyway! I'm happy to say she's been a pretty happy teether thus far! What a way to start her fifth month!
And in other news we made a batch of my all time favorite sugar cookies. I got the recipe from my young women leader when I was 14 and they never let me down! They are soft (how I like them) and they make a very large batch which is perfect to freeze half or let the kids go crazy with rolling pins and cookie cutters. (which is the reason my kitchen is covered with flour right now!) So here they are:
Soft Sugar Cookies
2 cups sugar
1 pound butter
6 eggs
4 tsp pure vanilla
6 tsp baking powder
7 cups flour
In a mixer (doing these by hand is not recommended-you might hurt yourself!) cream softened butter and sugar. Add eggs and cream well. Add vanilla. Sift powder into flour and add to mixture. Chill dough. Roll out to 1/4 inch thick. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. I made about 6 cookie sheets of hearts today. Makes a lot!
Have a happy day everyone!Beth

Oh, Congratulations!!! How cute those little teeth must be! :-) And what a great milestone for her! :-) What a big girl - thanks for the soft recipe, too - I have trouble finding soft sugar cookie recipes, and this looks very worth the effort, too! (And oh yes, I'll definitely use a mixer!!! ;-)
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!! Congrats Mom, on the teeth. Soon before you know it she is going to be walking! Sugar Cookies sound oh so good right now especially with cream cheese frosting, YUM!
